16 April 2015

On Saturday April 11 the world premiere of Dragon Ball Z: "Resurrection F" was shown (in Japanese with English subtitles) at the Egyptian Theater in Los Angeles, California. Prior to the premiere, a Red Carpet event was held outside of the theater, in which fans from all over gathered anticipating the arrival of members of the voice cast.
The atmosphere of the crowd was incredible, as cosplayers and fans of all ages participated in giveaways, contests, and group, "Kamehame-ha`s!" FUNimation cast and executives such as Sean Schemmel (English Goku), Chris Sabat (English Vegeta, Piccolo), Kyle Hebert (English Narrator, Adult Gohan), Gen Fukunaga (FUNimation CEO), and many more were all expected to arrive and walk the Red Carpet. In addition, members of the Japanese cast and crew were also scheduled to make an appearance. These members included the legendary Masako Nozawa (Japanese voice of Goku), director Tadayoshi Yamamuro, producer Norihiro Hayashida and Toei Animation CEO Kozo Morishita.
At the end of the screening ONE question was allowed to be asked (due to time limitations) to Masako Nozawa and Sean Schemmel. The question that was asked was, "what is it about Goku that makes him such an iconic character?" In Japanese Masako Nozawa replies, "Goku is everybody`s friend!" Schemmel agrees, and he goes on to say that Goku is pure of heart, and although he has flaws, he still is just everyone`s friend.
Following the short one question panel at the end of the film, an after party was held out in front of the theater. We got to meet some more of the cast and crew, notably FUNimation`s CEO Gen Fukunaga. Mr. Fukunaga was an extremely nice guy, and he really valued our feedback. All in all it was a great day. We really enjoyed ourselves. Being invited out to L.A. as members of the media to cover the event was truly an honor. We look forward to doing this again in the future!
